What a way to start the season! Coming up against last year’s premiers and knowing they have improved from then, it was always going to be a tough battle. We spoke before the game about protecting our home ground and proving ourselves early in the season and I couldn’t be prouder of the boys.
Jackson Spiers, Dustin Butters, Bailey Dixon and Brodie Scammell consistently won the ball from the midfield and our Wings, Beau Butters, Brendon Cook and Will Noonan set up behind the footy denying Tallangatta any chance to attack with purpose.
Our backline stood up superbly rebounding the footy on almost every occasion. Caleb Loorham, Billy Clowes and Noah Withers proving strong down there.
This week we are concentrating on recovery as our main priority, closely followed by our next test in Rutherglen. It’s important for us to enjoy the win from Saturday, but to not get ahead of ourselves and remember that every week is a new challenge.
Although a good start to the season, we know we have a lot to work on and continuous improvement is always our goal.
Get down early to watch the thirds this weekend at Rutherglen starting at 10:40am 👍
